TE

Question
How many times can someone go through periods of telogen effluvium before regrowth will no longer reoccur? (Given that they have no family history of hair loss).

Answer
If there are no bald genes to inherit then the number of TE episodes could be quite large but even people who do not carry bald genes still get thinner as they get older so each time you have a TE there will be some hairs which do not grow back. The number of times this can happen is different in each individual and there is no way to know who will get thin with only a few episodes and who can survive ten episodes. The best way to judge is to look at the older relatives to see how dense their hair is. Each TE can age the hair on the head by five years.
